Census 2022 and Gift Aid

Dear parents and carers Welcome back to another term of Scouting. We’re really pleased, as I’m sure you are, that we are still meeting face to face and (touch wood!) everything seems to be going well and we’re all keeping safe. I’m writing a little later than usual for the start of a new term as I wanted my termly update to coincide with this term’s biggest administrative task (or is that ‘nightmare’!). 31st January is the annual census of UK Scouts. This is where we re-register the Scout Group as an official member Group of UK Scouts and record the number of individual members we have, which in turn determines the insurance requirements, etc. From this, we are then […]

GSL Blog – Change to Covid readiness level

Copy of email sent to all members contact 1  & 2 in Parent Portal Good afternoon parents and carers Following an update which I have received from The Scout Association, taking effect today, 2 December 2021, the youth sector moves to the Yellow readiness level and the following changes apply: Anyone aged 11+ must wear a face covering when indoors, unless they are exempt. Please can I […]

We’ve reviewed the risk assessment for getting everyone back together safely and can now relax some of the processes. You will no longer get an email invitation to each meeting and you will no longer need to sign up each week. Please […]

(Not so) Weekly update #32

Dear parents and carers I haven’t written for quite some time as I really haven’t had much to say (I know, very unusual for me!). Zoom sessions have been continuing and I’ve been really pleased to see so many young people joining in on those sessions. We’ve had a few visitors to our Zoom sessions over the past few weeks with one more visit (that I know of!) to come for the Cubs. All that said, I have some good news everyone! We’re allowed back to face to face meetings very soon. From week beginning 19th April – directly after the school Easter holiday, we’ll be back to seeing each other in person. We’ll still be limited to 15 young […]

SPECIAL CENSUS UPDATE 2021

Dear parents and carers I hope you’re all doing OK with Lock-down 3. It certainly feels different to the last two and will hopefully be the last… let’s hope at any rate. I haven’t written for a few weeks as I need to make sure everyone reads this one carefully. 31st January is the annual census of UK Scouts. This is where we re-register the Scout Group as an official member Group of UK Scouts and record the number of individual members we have, which in turn determines the insurance requirements, etc. From this, we are then billed an annual membership fee per member, which is around £45 each by UK Scouts and Kent County Scouts (Folkestone & Hythe District Scouts […]
