Do they need to wear uniform to travel to camp?

No, we are only taking uniform in case we are asked to wear it for a special occasion. The likelihood is that it will return from camp unworn so it may be worth packing it in a carrier bag inside their holdall to keep it clean 🙂

The return date says we return on 5th July, is this correct?

This date should read 5th August 🙂 sorry!

How much spending money should I send with my young person?

This is completely up to each parent but to help you make that decision; the only place they can spend money on site is in the KIJ village. There will be food stalls including; milkshake shack, ice cream parlour, English tea room, slush and popcorn bar, burger van and sweet and chocolate shop. There will also be stalls selling KIJ memorabilia and general scouting/ outdoor kit.

We are providing all food any young person will need and will occasionally treat them with ice creams, tuck, cakes etc... so the above is optional.

The only other place they may wish to have spending money for will be when we visit London.

All money should be handed to a leader in a named wallet which will be kept in our safe whilst on camp.

Child will be able to access their money through a 'camp bank' style process. This is, we hold onto the money and YP can 'withdraw' a specific amount. This is all recorded. If parents wish to limit the amount of money they have access to at one time this can be discussed. We understand that sometimes it burns holes in their pockets 🙂

All activities on site are included in our camp fee, including the fair ground rides, circus and cinema.

Medical forms

In order for us to be able to administer medication to your child we must have a completed medical form.

If you wish to send your child to camp with either paracetamol or ibuprofen as 'just as in case' medication i.e. Headaches, pain relief for minor injury etc... then please hand this medication to a leader on either Thursday evening or Saturday morning. We will have blank forms ready to be filled in 🙂

We will not be able to administer pain relief without prior written consent.

Does it matter who drops my child off on Saturday morning?

We will need a parent or carers signature on some final paperwork. This can be completed either on Thursday evening when kit is dropped off or Saturday morning so a parent/ carer must be available at one of these times.

The Kent International Jamboree is a week long International camp, held in the heart of Kent every four years. We welcome Scouts and Guides from across the globe to take part in eight days of fun, friends and adventure between the 29th July and 5th August 2017.

All Cubs, Scouts and Explorers who are aged between 10 and 17 on the above dates are entitled to attend.

This is a week-long camp and most of the activities are based on the site. These activities will include things like climbing, air activities such as micro lighting, sub aqua activities, go karting, off road 4x4ing, kayaking, canoeing & sailing together with massive opening and closing ceremonies and onsite entertainment, competitions and workshops. It also gives the young people the chance to come together with thousands of other young people from all over the world in a Scouting environment. There will also be an exciting day out, off-site. Details of this are still to be confirmed by the KIJ team.

The total cost will be £245 per person. Payment can be made in installments. Payment by installment will be made between October 2016 and May 2017, you choose the amount and frequency, as long as it's fully paid by the deadline. This is the maximum cost of the camp. As with 2013 we will be running a full programme of fundraising activities in the lead up to the event in July to reduce the cost per person. The more fundraising you take part in, the less the cost of this fantastic experience becomes.

Fundraising events will be notified through My.SCOUT.

Our programme of fundraising activities will be posted to here as soon as details are confirmed. They are likely to include Bag Packing, a sponsored bike ride (we'll try and keep sponsored events to a minimum!), etc...

All the forms we need completed for the event will appear here.
