On 12th October, over 3,000 Cubs, Scouts and Explorers will raise funds for Porchlight by getting sponsored to spend a night outside in cardboard boxes.

The young people taking part hope to raise a significant amount for Porchlight’s work helping rough sleepers and vulnerable people across the county. ‘Knot’ bad!

We’re joining in (by invitation only, please see My.SCOUT ) with a night at the hall, sleeping outside on the decking in cardboard boxes (and a sleeping bag!). There is no charge for this event, however, it is a fundraising event, so we’re asking everyone that comes along to get a few sponsors to help out. Download a copy of the sponsorship form from here.

All participants will need to bring along their cardboard box – and importantly – take it away with them afterwards. W’ll have lots more boxes available as well.

Participants will also need:

  • A good quality sleeping bag (if you need one and haven’t got one, have a chat with the leaders – we have a few spare for loan)
  • Lots of layers – don’t just wear one layer, come along with at least four layers with pajamas as the base layer
  • A hat and gloves

We’ll provide soup/hot dogs in the evening and cereal/toast in the morning. Hot (and cold) drinks will be available all night long and a few of the leaders will be monitoring all night in case the weather changes suddenly.

If it’s really wet, we’ll move into the hall!
