Weekly update #29
Copy of email sent to all members contact 1 & 2 in Parent Portal Good afternoon parents and carers Following an update which I have received from The Scout Association, taking effect today, 2 December 2021, the youth sector moves to the Yellow readiness level and the following changes apply: Anyone aged 11+ must wear a face covering when indoors, unless they are exempt. This includes Scouts, Explorers, leaders (who are not actively leading activities) and visitors to the centre (parents). For everyone’s safety, we will return to greeting young people at the main door at the start of the meeting and dismissing them from the main door at the end of meetings as we see parents. Please can I […]
Weekly update #28
Dear parents and carers I hope week 2 of this lockdown finds you all well? Scouts this week has continued with all sections online and many young people enjoying meeting up with their new sections and leaders. We saw some great Remembrance tributes from all sections, thank you for sharing. These dreaded resource packs we’re trying to send out to members have become the bane of my life! They’re all ready to go, but as this is the first time we’ve really done a mass mail out to our members, we’ve realised that our address records for everyone are a mess! We’re missing so many addresses, or addresses are in different boxes meaning that we can’t really send out the […]
Dear parents and carers So, our first week back to virtual Scouting has been and gone and seems to have been a success. As I thought, nationally The Scouts instructed the closing of all Groups for face to face Scouting from last Thursday so I am pleased we were prepared and managed to provide a good programme for all our sections. Thank you so much for the messages of support sent to the team and to me – they really help us and stop some of the worry about whether we are doing the right thing or not. This week the online adventures continue. Keep a look out for the Zoom details sent out as Events by email. I […]
To foldly go….Beaver & Cub Meeting
Remembrance 2020 2020 Service Usually, we’d be together on Remembrance Sunday sharing in the Folkestone Service. As we can’t do that this year, take a look at this ‘Scouts Own’ about Remembrance made by 50th Wakefield (North Ossett.) Scout Group. Our thanks to them for this wonderful resource.
GSLs Weekly Challenge #6
If Holly went a little fast at our meeting, or watching Bagheera make his upside down put you off, here are the instructions to make your paper Beaver or Cub jumper. Don’t forget to add your badges to it and share you finished article with us. 🙂 Download a copy of the instructions here.
We know that not everyone can come back to their section meeting each week due to the numbers restrictions we have to adhere to. So, to keep everyone involved, I’ll be setting a weekly taskmaster challenge, courtesy of South London Scouts, for all sections to try. Have a go and don’t forget to share with us using the form at the bottom of the page. -Craig, Group Scout Leader
