to-dos

Click on the tabs below to see if there’s anything relevant for you.

We’ve noticed recently a lot of parents un-ticking the ‘receive emails from leaders’ box for primary contact 1 in Parent Portal. If you do this, you will not receive invitations to events/activities/camps, etc. or any communication from the Group.  Please ensure you really mean for this to happen and re tick it you wish to continue receiving information.

We do recommend that you un tick it for primary contact 2!

Please check and update My.SCOUT – especially photo permissions…please say YES or NO.

Gift aid – look out for the Gift Aid Declaration email – worth an extra £2.50 a month on top of subs to us at no cost to you.

Visit our members’ handbook to see if what you need to know is there.

If it isn’t, drop us a line via the Facebook group page or email us using the button below.

Each month we aim to bring you the latest news and updates from the Group to help you make the most of everything Scouting has to offer our members. Let us know what you think below.

New Parent Portal up and running

It's arrived - the new parent portal (used to be called My.SCOUT) from Online Scout Manager. Take a look at the new and improved access area. You will need to create an account for your young person and log in each time, however, it will be much easier to use, navigate and mange all your young people (if you have more than one!) in the same place. Click on the picture to the left or here to watch the overview video . If you watch this video, there are many more guides on the new parent portal linked on that page. We hope you like the new parent portal tools - let us know what you think.

Safeguarding everyone

This month Craig, our GSL, has been on a safeguarding training day and has a few words of wisdom(!) to share about how we keep everyone in Scouting safe from harm. Take a minute to read his blog post on the subject (click on the yellow card to the left).
To make sure you see posts from our website without having to look for them, like our Facebook Page (the public page, not the closed members only Group!). Public Facebook Page

Parents are very welcome...

We hope you've enjoyed our open door policy so far... please do come into the hall at the end of the meetings. Grab a coffee or tea and share the last few minutes with your young person - especially when badges are awarded (leaders will send out a reminder via the Facebook group on those nights when badges are being presented).

Annual Scout Census

Thank you to everyone that completed the census update. We're very pleased to report that we grew again last year, our 8th consecutive year of offering Scouting to more young people and adults in Folkestone!

Upcoming programmes

Here’s the next few weeks for you… remember you can see basic details of the programme on our website home page, more weeks on the section pages and full details by logging into parent portal (used to be My.SCOUT)
