Copy of email sent to all families on 16/03/2020

Late this afternoon, the Prime Minister has said that everyone in the UK should now avoid non-essential travel and contact with others.

Given this guidance the national Scout Association have taken the decision that all face-to-face Scout meetings, activities and events must be suspended from tomorrow, Tuesday, 17 March 2020.

To that end, I am sorry to inform you all that there will be no Beaver, Cub, Scout or Explorer meetings at 11th Folkestone until further notice.

We know that our members will be as disappointed as we are with this news, however, the safety of everyone is paramount and must remain our top priority.

But, fear not! Our superb volunteers have been beavering away and have some plans to provide activities and guidance to our members to enable ‘remote Scouting’ – you’ll still be able to gain badges and take part in a different kind of Scouting programme, keep an eye on our website (www.11th.org.uk) and Facebook page as well as your email inbox.

Once again, I’m really sorry we have had to take this action, however, I do hope that our members will enjoy what we’ve got planned for them over the coming weeks.

I aim to communicate regular updates and will endeavour to send out a weekly email just to keep everyone informed, but please do use the Facebook page to keep in touch with us.

Stay safe!

Yours in Scouting
