Teamwork, leadership and skills for life

We’re looking forward to welcoming new members to Scouting from September… not to mention being really excited about having all our current members back properly and all on our skills for life journey. If you’ve put your name down to join us on our Get Involved! list, we’ve recently written to you to let you know what happens next. The right section leader will be in touch towards the end of August to let you know when you can start and give parents all the details they need, so keep any eye out for that. In the meantime, have a lovely summer break and we can’t wait to meet you in September or October. Not yet registered… Get Involved Ready […]

AGM 2021

Good evening everyone. It’s our AGM on Monday 21st June at 7pm. This is an important part of our charity’s year and a legal requirement to hold within 6 months of the end of our financial year (31st December) so, for the second (and hopefully final) time we’re going to hold it online and limit it to just the business bits. You can see the report and take part here: https://www.11thfolkestonescouts.org.uk/governance/2021-annual-general-meeting/ and we’d really appreciate it […]

Zoom sessions have been continuing and I’ve been really pleased to see so many young people joining in on those sessions. We’ve had a few visitors to our Zoom sessions over the past few weeks with one more visit (that I know of!) to come for the Cubs. All that said, I have some good news everyone! We’re allowed back to face to face meetings very soon. From week beginning 19th April – directly after the school Easter holiday, we’ll be back to seeing each other in person. We’ll still be limited to 15 young […]

SPECIAL CENSUS UPDATE 2021

Dear parents and carers I hope you’re all doing OK with Lock-down 3. It certainly feels different to the last two and will hopefully be the last… let’s hope at any rate. I haven’t written for a few weeks as I need to make sure everyone reads this one carefully. 31st January is the annual census of UK Scouts. This is where we re-register the Scout Group as an official member Group of UK Scouts and record the number of individual members we have, which in turn determines the insurance requirements, etc. From this, we are then billed an annual membership fee per member, which is around £45 each by UK Scouts and Kent County Scouts (Folkestone & Hythe District Scouts […]
